Have you been to the park lately? You may have noticed how loved and beautiful the Welcome Bed is looking! We decided to try a neighborhood Garden Club to keep up with the care and weeding of the planting beds since our twice-yearly It’s My Park Days were not enough attention to keep things thriving and to keep the Bermuda grass from taking over.

Our mission is to keep plantings native and adapted only, and to choose pollinator-friendly species as host and nectar plants. The Austin Grow Green Guide is our reference for what to plant and how to care for it.

We would love to see these spaces become teaching gardens with signs and information about the plants and wildlife they support.

Eventually, we would like to expand the Garden Club to the pool bed and Shelton Memorial bed, and the park needs YOU to garden with us or to donate a little for plants and supplies. Thank you, neighbors!
